Ditch the one-night sleep test. Track your sleep continuously to unlock personalized insights and trends. Our data-driven approach removes the guesswork and leads to effective treatment faster.
Empower Sleep uses FDA-cleared technology to aid in the diagnosis and management of sleep disorders. Your sleep is recorded using a wearable ring that is minimally disruptive to your sleep. This accurate, convenient, and comfortable ring can be used for multiple nights to capture more data. When you wake up, you can access medical-grade insights directly in the app.
Empower Sleep uses the SleepImage software and Viatom oximeter ring, which records 6 channels of data to accurately detect sleep apnea and estimate sleep quality.
The SleepImage system measures Plethysmogram, Heart Rate, Heart Rate Variability, Respiration, Blood Oxygenation (SpO2), and Movement (Actigraphy).
The at-home sleep test is shown to agree with in-lab tests in over 90.5% of cases (with 98.8% accuracy in severe sleep apnea and 96.3% in mild sleep apnea patients).
By getting sleep test results daily, you will learn about sleep and find treatments that work best for you. Empower Sleep specialists will remotely monitor your sleep, troubleshoot, and coach you on your journey to better health.
Individuals interested in getting a diagnosis and improving their sleep from the comfort of their own home and bed. Empower Sleep also works well for those who are reluctant to sleep overnight in a sleep lab and want to get started on care quickly.

The Empower Sleep physician will recommend a sleep test best suited for your needs.
Our most commonly used test is a SleepImage ring and an FDA-cleared Software as a Medical Device (SaMD) software that analyzes your pulse and blood oxygenation signals to detect pauses and partial reduction in breathing. The second most common option is an Onera Health Level II sleep test - this is a more comprehensive option that assists in a more personalized treatment suggestions.
For all our sleep study options, you will receive a device to use in the comfort of your home. As you are testing, the sleep study device will send data to your Empower Sleep specialist, who will make personalized recommendations based on your results.
Sleep should be measured across long-term trends, not a single night. The probability of misdiagnosis in a single night test ranges from 20% to 50% (study 1, study 2). Clinical studies have shown that the accuracy of a sleep test increases with the number of nights tested.
Empower Sleep recommends using the at-home sleep test both for diagnosis and while you are adopting the care plan. By getting sleep test results daily, we will develop faster feedback loops to find treatments that work best for you.
Yes! Our providers can monitor data from your Oura & Apple Watch. We are continuously working on new integrations.
While consumer wearables are convenient and insightful, we suggest using FDA-cleared solutions that are scientifically assessed with clinical context. For example, the SleepImage system has been used in over 84 scientific studies. The SleepImage system is also capable at sampling signals at a higher rate compared to most consumer wearables.
Empower Sleep recommends the Onera Health home sleep study (Level II) in complex sleep apnea cases, as well as to speed up diagnosis and identify co-morbid sleep conditions.
This is a 4 sensor wireless system that records multiple physiological parameters related to cardiovascular, respiratory and brain functions, and is the closest in accuracy to an in-lab sleep study while still being performed in the comfort of your home. The test captures Eye Movement (EOG), Brain Activity (EEG), Muscle Movement (EMG), SpO2, Cardiac Activity (ECG), Respiratory Flow (bio-impedance), Respiratory Effort, Activity, Sound Pressure, and Body Position.
The Onera sleep test helps to phenotype complex sleep apnea and diagnose Periodic Leg Movement disorder. Additional data collected during the Onera study will help determine the most effective path of treatment faster, as well as diagnose sleep conditions co-morbid with sleep apnea.
Achieving optimal sleep often requires a multidisciplinary approach. Whether you need the expertise of a cardiologist, ENT, dentist, therapist, psychiatrist, or even specialized medical equipment—we coordinate it all. Our dedicated care team ensures that every aspect of your treatment is seamlessly integrated, so you can focus on your journey to better sleep without the hassle of managing multiple appointments and providers.
Your body has a natural 24-hour sleep-wake rhythm controlled by two key hormones - melatonin and cortisol. With this test, we map your unique hormone patterns to gain a deeper understanding of your sleep issues. By understanding your circadian pattern, we suggest impactful, targeted adjustments to your daily routine and sleep schedule.
Our comprehensive blood panel helps us gain a deeper understanding of your sleep health. We dive into your organ health, hormonal balance, energy systems, key nutrients, and inflammation markers. Understanding the physiology of your organ systems, hormones, stress, and energy systems will enable a targeted sleep improvement plan.
Periodic Limb Movement Disorder is diagnosed using sleep tests that monitor leg movements during sleep. This can be done using a type II at-home sleep test or during an in-lab study, both of which can capture movements that may not always be visible. Movement detected by the SleepImage ring may also suggest the need for further evaluation.
Blood tests play a supporting role by identifying underlying potential causes for PLMD. Doctors may check iron and ferritin levels, a complete blood count, and/or kidney and liver functions. Low iron and ferritin are particularly important since deficiencies can contribute to PLMD. While ferritin itself isn’t supplemented, iron supplementation can significantly improve symptoms. These tests don’t diagnose PLMD directly but help identify treatable factors.
Movements during sleep cause sleep disruptions (arousals) and can interfere with sleep quality. Bed partners often provide valuable insight by reporting repetitive leg movements they’ve observed. When combined with sleep test results and blood work, these symptoms help doctors confirm PLMD and develop a treatment plan.
4 indications for diagnosing Restless Legs Syndrome (RLS) are an uncomfortable urge to move the legs, worsening of the urge sensation at rest, relief with movement, stretching, or rubbing the legs, and evening or nighttime intensification. Unlike sleep disorders, RLS also occurs during wakefulness. Blood tests to check iron and ferritin levels are important, since deficiencies can be a source of the problem and iron supplementation can help.
RLS can severely disrupt getting to sleep at night due to the persistent urge to move. Periodic Limb Movement Disorder (PLMD), present in 80-90% of patients with RLS, causes involuntary leg movements during sleep, further fragmenting rest and preventing deep, restorative sleep.
Chronic sleep disruption from RLS leads to daytime issues like excessive sleepiness, difficulty concentrating, irritability, and reduced performance. Fortunately, effective medication and behavioral treatments exist to manage RLS symptoms and minimize sleep disruption.
Insomnia is diagnosed using detailed life-style journals and symptom assessment. Empower Sleep physicians assess how long it takes to fall asleep, the frequency and duration of nighttime awakenings, and the daytime impact of poor sleep (e.g. fatigue or difficulty concentrating). They also consider sleep environment, lifestyle factors, medical history, and the use of prescription medications or supplements.
Home sleep testing with the SleepImage ring can provide valuable insights into sleep patterns and help determine if an insomnia diagnosis is appropriate. This multi-night test automatically tracks sleep vitals, including how long it takes to fall asleep, nighttime awakenings, sleep stages, heart rate, and oxygen levels. It can also help identify coexisting sleep conditions like sleep apnea, restless legs syndrome, or circadian rhythm disorders, which can contribute to insomnia. These insights allow clinicians to distinguish between different insomnia subtypes and establish a quantifiable baseline for treatment.
When insomnia lasts more than three months, it is considered chronic and has serious health consequences beyond daytime fatigue. Chronic insomnia can disrupt glucose regulation, increase blood pressure, strain heart health, and impair cognitive function.
Yes! The SleepImage software has been certified by the FDA and is shown to agree with results from an in-lab sleep tests (polysomnography) in 96.3% of mild sleep apnea tests, 90.5% of moderate sleep apnea tests, and 98.8% of severe sleep apnea tests (source).

Snoring may not only be uncomfortable for you and your bed partner, but can also be a symptom of sleep apnea. Both could be caused by obstructed airways, often occuring at the same time.
Fixing snoring & sleep apnea can result in reduction of daytime fatigue, higher energy levels, and improved performance.
While recent clinical studies (study 1, study 2) demonstrate the importance of multi-night sleep tests, insurance coverage of multi-night sleep tests has lagged behind. If you plan to submit the expense or the results of an Empower Sleep home sleep test to your health insurance, you should consult with your insurance plan before purchasing the sleep test.
You can also utilize your HSA or FSA to cover the sleep test costs.
The SleepImage ring will track your pulse and blood oxygenation levels during your home sleep test. The results will be shared with your doctor through your phone's Bluetooth. Your doctor will then review the data, develop your diagnosis, and create your personalized care plan.
The Empower Sleep care team takes into account sleep apnea-related indices (e.g. AHI, RDI, ODI), as well as sleep quality parameters, when crafting your care plan. Parameters include, but are not restricted to, your health history, symptoms, and your overall sleep architecture.
Discuss the problems preventing you from a good night’s rest. Visits are done virtually through your phone or computer.
